I haven’t traditionally been an MMO hopper, but I feel extraordinarily liberated these days. I’m playing EVE Online but also have been keeping my eye on SWTOR and to a much lesser extent WoW as well. I actually logged into SWTOR for the first time in nearly three months to see what has changed, but I was sadly disappointed to see that by and large, nothing had. There is still no LFG system and PVP is still a free wheeling, free for all mess. I’ve already unsubbed again and won’t likely peek in again for several months, if at all. I would have thought Bioware would have been somewhat more active in dealing with the many issues, including the lack of similar content at level 50 to that found pre-50, UI customization, LFG, a revamped economic and trade system, revamp of trade skills, and a host of other issues. Alas, it doesn’t appear that any of the big issues have yet been addressed, though I admit I haven’t really been keep track. Even the Legacy system hasn’t yet been fielded, though I do know its coming soon. In any event, in my view much more is needed from Bioware. Now is not the time to be going slow and steady.
1.2, no release date but Soon™, Rated PVP, color matching, legacy updates and custom UI. check out the dev tracker, I think there’s a video of the UI changes.
I’ll definitely have to check out the UI changes as the inability to modify the default UI is one of the major issues that a majority of players complain about. Or at least as far as I can tell, it is. UI changes alone wouldn’t tempt me back to SWTOR however. Being forced to stand around in a station spamming for groups feels the same with, or without, a new pretty UI. In as much as I love PVP, rated PVP doesn’t excite me in this case. SWTOR’s PVP is a mess. There is zero strategy, and its a mob fest. Even more so than in WoW. In Huttball the winner will be the team that can leash the runner the farthest, the fastest. And the PVP gear grind was just…. ridiculous. I took a look at the time it was going to take to get a good set and decided I wasn’t all that interested in doing that.
As far as the Legacy system is concerned, I did know that was coming soon. Read an article on the changes last week and thought the only interesting change was the ability to share class skills with other classes. Not sure of the specifics of how that will be earned, or granted, but it certainly did sound fun. The rest of it sounded like fluff.
LOL @ PvP gear grind…. um J, the person who hates pvp more than anything has full purples from pvp, the grind is pretty much gone. I can finish the daily pvp in about 3 hours, and the weeklys in 3 or so days. Agiel and Az are both Purpled out and ready for attempting HMs.
Interesting! So do you still obtain the gear through earning points and converting them to emblems through bag purchases?
Yeah, but you get a bag for each daily (2) and 3 bags for each weekly (2 more) the bags give tokens for PVP T1 and T2 and a random chance at a item token (t2). If I do all the weeklies and dailies it’s 20 bags a week. with 15 t1 tokens per bag and 7 t2 tokens, and that’s not counting buying bags with the commendations that you get just for playing.
Granted if you are Valor rank 50 or higher you can take an alternate bag but I’m not that high yet.
