Mist of Pandaria Beta Invite?

I played WoW avidly for seven years and was never able to get a Beta invite for any of the previous beta’s, despite hundreds of blog posts about the game and a large amount of plaintive begging.  I stopped playing WoW months ago and have had little desire to play the game again, and now I get a beta invite?  Seriously?

I imagine this is the newest Blizzard marketing ploy — throw invites to everyone who has unsubbed within the past year, or some such.  Not a bad idea, really but unfortunately I’m pretty “meh” on it all.  I’m not terribly excited by the addition of Kung Fu or Pokemon to WoW, and I’m even less excited by the thought of “more of the same” and the constant, never ending class and ability redesigns that have been the norm in WoW for the past few years.  Most of all, I’m not in the least bit interested in participating in the raiding roller coaster again.  I barely raided in the current expansion, having had most of the desire beat out of me in previous expansions.  I just don’t have it in me any more to slog through a raid week after week to be held back by individuals who evidently don’t know their left foot from their right.  And I have less than zero desire to even attempt to raid in the “hardcore” fashion where you aren’t even a person.  Such a quandary, but I have the answer to it.  “Screw it”.

And that is what Blizzard is up against with hundreds of thousands of players like me.  I might drop in to see what is going on at some point, but I just don’t see myself as a long term player any more.  And I would be hard pressed to believe Blizzard could convince me otherwise at this point.  I want more than the gear grind WoW is based on but the issue simply isn’t addressed in MoP and I haven’t heard a peep from Blizzard that they even see it as one.
